An Expanded Definition of ‘Core’ – The HypoGlossal Connection to Breath, LumboPelvic Stability, and Arch Dynamics

This lecture provides video evidence of the soft-tissue connections from the tongue to the pericardium, diaphragm, hip joint and the inseam of the leg.  The tongue is the most anterior (and most intelligent) muscle of the ‘Deep Front Line’, the innermost of the body’s myofascial meridians.  Connected from the beginning in our embryology, this core line surrounds our organs, expanding and differentiating into the limbs, and extending the spine as we grow (or not, if we are stuck).  These connections remain in the adult, as you will see, and go some way to explaining some of the far-reaching effects we see from oropharyngeal re-training and manual therapy work.

Thomas Myers studied with Drs. Ida Rolf, Moshe Feldenkrais, and Buckminster Fuller, and with a variety of movement and manual therapy pioneers. His work is influenced by cranial, visceral, and intrinsic movement studies he made with European schools of osteopathy.
