Optimizing post-operative healing following frenectomy - Integrating Biologics and therapy for enhanced recovery
Successful frenectomy outcomes depend not only on precise surgical technique but also on optimizing post-operative healing to prevent complications and maximize functional benefits. This presentation will explore a comprehensive, evidence-based approach to post-frenectomy recovery, incorporating wound management, body work, myofunctional therapy, and innovative adjunctive therapies such as serrapeptase and red light therapy. Serrapeptase, a proteolytic enzyme, has shown potential in reducing inflammation and minimizing post-surgical fibrosis, while red light therapy supports tissue healing, enhances circulation, and reduces discomfort. Drawing from extensive clinical experience in tongue ties and airway-based dentistry, I will discuss the integration of these modalities alongside early mobilization exercises, nutritional support, and a collaborative approach involving lactation consultants, speech therapists, and myofunctional therapists. Attendees will gain practical strategies to enhance healing, reduce reattachment risk, and improve long-term functional outcomes for patients of all ages.
