After the lunch break, the Poster Award ceremony will take place, followed by an opportunity to meet our young researchers in the field of Future Research. The congress will conclude with a round-table discussion and will officially end at 6:00 PM.
Dr. Richard Baxter is a board-certified pediatric dentist, Fellow of the AAPD, and Diplomate of the American Board of Laser Surgery. He is an internationally-recognized speaker on tongue-ties, instructor of the acclaimed online course Tongue-Tied Academy, and lead author of the bestselling book Tongue-Tied: How a Tiny String Under the Tongue Impacts Nursing, Speech, Feeding, and More. He is passionate about educating parents and healthcare providers about the effects a tongue-tie can have throughout the lifespan. He lives in Birmingham, AL with his wife, Tara, and their three girls, Hannah, Noelle, and Molly. He is the founder of the Alabama Tongue-Tie Center where he uses the CO2 laser to release oral restrictions. He had a tongue-tie himself, and all of his girls were treated as infants, so this field is a personal one. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his family, running, and outdoor activities. He is a Kindergarten Small Group Leader at the Church at Brook Hills and participates in global missions projects around the world.
Dr. Soroush Zaghi graduated from Harvard Medical School, completed residency in ENT (Otolaryngology- Head and Neck Surgery) at UCLA, and Sleep Surgery Fellowship at Stanford University. He now serves as medical director of The Breathe Institute where the focus of his sub-specialty training is on the comprehensive treatment of nasal obstruction, mouth breathing, snoring, and obstructive sleep apnea in children and adults. He is very active in clinical research with over 97+ peer-reviewed research publications in the fields of neuroscience, head and neck surgery, myofunctional therapy, sleep-disordered breathing, and tongue-tie surgery. Dr. Zaghi is particularly interested in studying the impact of tethered-oral tissues (such as tongue-tie) and oral myofascial dysfunction on maxillofacial development, upper airway resistance syndrome, and obstructive sleep apnea, especially as it relates to pediatric populations. He is an invited lecturer, author, and journal reviewer for topics relating to the diagnosis and management of sleep-disordered breathing and tongue-tie disorders in children and adults.
Dr. Justin Roche is a Consultant Paediatrician and IBCLC with over two decades of experience in the field of tongue tie. He has worked as a consultant in hospital and community paediatric settings and together with Kate he founded the National Tongue tie Centre in Ireland of which he is the Medical Director. At the National Tongue Tie Centre the team provides multidisciplinary care to infants, children and adults. They have developed a pathway of care to bring Functional Frenuloplasty to infants and children from 3 months of age. Having historically used scissors, then diode laser, he has spent years refining his CO2 laser skills to advance surgical technique to work with the tissue planes for selective fascial release. Justin has completed extensive post-graduate training in tongue tie, lectures internationally on the topic and has produced courses to share this knowledge.
Dr. Shereen Lim is a Perth-based dentist with a postgraduate diploma in Dental Sleep Medicine from the University of Western Australia.
Since 2011, she has been involved in the multidisciplinary management of snoring and obstructive sleep apnoea, and her private practice focuses on tongue-tie management from infancy to adulthood, early interceptive orthodontics, and myofunctional therapy.
Dr. Lim is dedicated to promoting airway health from infancy to help minimise the development of sleep-disordered breathing and its associated health impacts. She is the author of Breathe, Sleep, Thrive: Discover How Airway Health Can Unlock Your Child’s Greater Health, Learning, and Potential.
Through international speaking engagements and the facilitation of multidisciplinary conferences, she advances an integrative team approach to optimising airway health and addressing breathing-related challenges
Dr Marjan Jones is owner and lead dental surgeon at Enhance Myofunction in Brisbane Australia. In addition to her degrees in Science (physiology) and Dentistry, she holds qualifications as an International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) and in myofunctional therapy.
With close to 30 years’ experience with dental lasers, and extensive knowledge and experience in treatment of oral myofunctional disorders stemming from oral ties, she has focused her practice toward optimizing the growth and function of the orofacial region. She pioneered a multi-disciplinary approach in Australia to treatment of oral restrictions for patients of all ages in 2013, closely collaborating with bodyworkers, IBCLCs, and therapists working on speech and myofunction.
She co-founded the International Consortium of Ankylofrenula professionals (ICAP) and as the inaugural chairperson, established the foundations of an organisation that continues to propagate best clinical practice and research on the impact of oral ties. She served on the International Association of Tongue Tie Professionals (IATP) for two years and co-founded the Tongue Tie Institute – an organisation dedicated to education about the management of soft tissue dysfunction resulting from oral restrictions through a multi-disciplinary approach.
She is a Fellow of the World Clinical Laser Institute, and a member of multiple associations and academies related to airway health. She is a current reviewer of manuscripts for an international journal.
Dr. Raymond J Tseng is a pediatric dentist and owner of the North Carolina Tie Center for research and clinical practice (Cary, NC, USA). Dr. Tseng was a National Institutes of Health (NIH) funded trainee throughout his professional training and completed his DDS and PhD at The Ohio State University (USA), and post-doctoral research fellowship and pediatric specialty training at the University of North Carolina (USA). Dr. Tseng has actively engaged in clinical research and practice focused on tethered oral tissues (TOTs) for 7 years and is passionate about collaborating with other clinician-scientists to further develop a scientifically sound evidence base to guide TOTs-focused clinical practices. Dr. Tseng is the Chair of the board of directors for the International Consortium for oral Ankylofrenulae Professionals (ICAP), and co-chairs for ICAP’s scientific affairs committee, Committee for Interprofessional Research, Education and Ankyloglossia Science (CIREAS). Dr Tseng is an internationally invited speaker and subject matter expert on ankyloglossia and evidence-based tongue tie research. He holds adjunct faculty/adviser positions at the University of North Carolina (USA), and Curtin University (Perth, WA).
Dr. Ankita Shah is an Airway Focused Dentist, Tongue Tie Specialist & TMJ Expert with 12 years of experience and extensive international training in treating an array of diverse cases from infants to adults.
Dr. Ankita is the first Indian Ambassador from The Breathe Institute with incredible skill developed in performing Functional Frenuloplasty and Laser Tongue Tie Surgeries for infants, children and adults. She had got the opportunity to observe Dr. Soroush Zaghi, a renowned ENT & Sleep Surgeon performs tongue tie surgeries at his practice in Los Angeles.
She has a high-level proficiency in treating TMJ disorders non-surgically and with minimally invasive procedures. She is the first and only OC-trained TMJ expert in India and Dubai(UAE) providing Gneuromuscular dentistry (GNM) & Orthopedic treatments for TMJ. Dr Shah was trained by Dr. Clayton Chan, a world-class pre-eminent educator and authority on neuromuscular dentistry and GNM dental occlusion.
Her advanced education allows her to use a holistic and individualized treatment plan to treat Mouth Breathing, Snoring, Sleep apnea and offer her patients less invasive treatments with outstanding long-lasting results. With a Fellowship and multiple certifications and practice, Dr. Ankita expertly handles Airway Orthodontics and Jaw Expansion procedures.

She has also been Nominated for Specialist Dentist of the Year, 2019 at the Famdent Excellence in Dentistry Awards. Dr. Shah is also the President of the India Airway Co-LAB Chapter initiated by AAPMD, New York & The Breathe Institute, Los Angeles.
The reason for her success is her continuous quest to stay abreast of advancements in the field of Airway & TMJ and how can she as a dentist resolve these problems. Dr.Shah also loves to share her knowledge and she has had the opportunity to present at various national and international platforms.
As one of the India and UAE’s few Airway and TMJ experts, Dr. Ankita’s mission is to help her patients lead a pain free life, have healthy nasal breathing and a good quality of sleep.
Kate Roche is the Clinical Director at the National Tongue Tie Centre in Ireland and leads a team of Therapists and Lactation Consultants to provide the highest quality of rehabilitative care to infants, children and adults with oral dysfunctions. She is a Chartered Physiotherapist, IBCLC and Paediatric Feeding Therapist. Having trained at the University of Liverpool, she worked in both Leeds and Southampton, where she led and delivered the regional neonatal service for pre-term and high-risk infants, before moving to Ireland. She is a member of the Irish Society of Chartered Physiotherapists and registered with CORU. Kate has travelled overseas many times over the years to complete further training in Feeding Therapy, Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy and Craniosacral Therapy, and now lectures internationally.
Jessica has been invested in helping families struggling with oral restrictions since giving birth to a tongue tied baby in 2005 while working as a La Leche League Leader, birth, and postpartum doula. "Medically complicated", herself, she has an appreciation for seeking answers for her favorite question: "Why?". Her doula background added an appreciation for the importance of whole person approaches. She earned her IBCLC credential in 2009 and started a private practice in the Triangle area of North Carolina in the United States. She provides home visits there and also works regularly to provide integrative care for treatment of ties in infants through the North Carolina Tongue Tie Center. Jessica has worked with multiple practices to initiate an integrative model in diverse geographic areas and has served on the Board of Directors for the International Consortium of Ankylofrenula Professionals as well as involvement with the organization since its founding through education and outreach. She's excited to see care for oral restrictions evolving around the globe, as well as enjoying time with her family, travel, and live music.
Michelle has private practice in Cincinnati, OH, USA, and has over 29 years’ experience as a Pediatric Occupational Therapist, specializing with newborn to precrawling infants. She’s an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant, National Board Certified Reflexologist, Manual Therapist and Registered Yoga Teacher. Michelle has developed several novel curriculums designed to optimize health, posture, movement and connection for babies and families. She’s been involved in the ‘tongue tie professional world’ for a long time, presenting a poster at the very first IATP conference, and speaking at many others since then. Michelle is a contributing chapter author to the well known book, Tongue Tied, by Richard Baxter and a faculty member of the Academy of Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy
Linda D’Onofrio, MS, CCC-SLP completed her degree in Communication Disorders at the University of Oregon, her medical externship at the Oregon Health Sciences University Medical Center with a focus on inpatient neurological acute care and outpatient cognitive rehabilitation, and she completed her clinical fellowship at the Oregon VA Medical Center with a focus on dysphagia, aphasia, brain injury, and oral cancer. For 23 years had a private practice in Portland Oregon focusing on craniofacial disorders, oromyofunctional disorders, feeding disorders and dysphagia, and sensory-motor speech disorders. As an adjunct instructor, she has taught graduate courses in oromyofunctional disorders and craniofacial disorders. She has reviewed manuscripts for the Journal of Clinical Pediatric Dentistry, Folia Phoniatrica et Logopaedica, and the Journal of Oral Rehabilitation. Her paper “Oral dysfunction as a cause of malocclusion” in the journal Orthodontics & Craniofacial Research was awarded the most downloaded article for the journal in 2019 and 2020. She has lectured on oral physiology at several universities, including Stanford, Tufts, and the Vienna School for Interdisciplinary Dentistry.
Tine Greve is a midwife since 1991, IBCLC since 2000 and she has a bachelor in Traditional Chinese Medicine in Acupuncture from 2014. She has a focus on helping mothers preparing for physiologic birth and breastfeeding. She has previously been working in an Alternative Birth Care Centre in Oslo for many years.
She is currently working with counselling breastfeeding women in a multidisciplinary health care centre for mothers and babies where she has specialized in breastfeeding difficulties due to tongue-ties and motoric challenges. She is also a volunteer breastfeeding counsellor for “Ammehjelpen”, the Norwegian Mother-to-Mother support group for breastfeeding counselling (resembling La Leche League).
She has for many years been teaching in educational programs for midwives, NICU-nurses, nurse-assistants, health care visitors etc. on a national level in Norway.
Tine Greve is an experienced speaker at international conferences such as ICM, Midwifery Today, ICAP Professionals, Nordic Midwifery conferences, Nordic Breastfeeding conferences, ILCA/VELB etc. She has been teaching and have had workshops in USA, Canada, Egypt, Ghana, Australia, Russia, Germany, The Netherlands, UK, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Iceland, Slovenia, Romania, Austria, Belgium and France.
Dr. Sharon Smart is a Senior Lecturer at the Faculty of Health Sciences, the Curtin School of Allied Health, and Senior Research Fellow at St John of God Hospital. She completed her Bachelor of Science studies in Human Communication Science at Curtin University in 2000, and PhD studies in Human Communication Science at the School of Psychology and Speech Pathology, Curtin University in 2008, and was awarded the Curtin University Aspire Award and Curtin University Teaching Award—Excellence in Teaching in 2020 and Australian Awards for University Teaching—Citation for Outstanding Contribution to Student Learning in 2021. Her research interests include ankyloglossia (tongue-tie), orofacial myofunctional therapy for feeding and speech production, infant feeding, and pediatric dysphagia (swallowing difficulties), assessment practices in pediatric dysphagia, and child speech and language.
